Photography, Gaara, and Kurama (nine tails)

I love whoever did the original of this! It's a great image and I knew I wanted to do it as soon as I saw it. They did a great job depicting Gaara's insanity in those moments.

This was a bit of a challenge! Trying to depict fur was difficult. I JUST realized that I didn't finish his feet hahaha!

Poor Kurama, in the original image (from the manga) his feet are covered by trees so I wanted to look up what his feet and claws looked like before drawing them. I guess I forgot entirely.

Day 10-15 A few shots.

Although I haven't been posting I have been drawing so I'll just post my results from the last few days. I won't be saying too much. I'll let my drawings do the talking.
Kurenai Yuhi

This close up shot made me realize that her pupils are two different sizes. Now I can't un-see it.

Tsunade and Naruto. I LOVE this image :)

I think I need more practice drawing breasts/cleavage though.

The Third Hokage and Orochimaru. I love this too, such a powerful picture.

I'm finding it hard to show bloodstains on clothes but I like the blood itself much better here than in Zabuza's drawing.

There! That's what I've been working on for the past few days. I hope you enjoyed :)

Day 9- Zabuza Momochi

Zabuza and Haku are probably my favorite antagonists in early Naruto. I guess my hubby was getting tired of all my head shots/profiles because he challenged me to draw Zabuza like this. Again, not sure who to give credit to but it's an original from a fan. I like it and learned a lot while drawing it. There are so many things I'd do differently now but it is what it is.

Day 8- Shikamaru Nara

I love how this one turned out. Months ago when first deciding I wanted to improve my drawing I went through tons of pictures online trying to find ones I really liked. I came across a pencil drawing I loved of Shikamaru. I can't find who the original picture belonged to or I'd credit them (if anyone knows let me know!). The hair took a while but it's probably the first one I really felt happy with once I finished.

Day 7- Neji Hyuga

For any fans of Naruto, you may notice that I'm drawing all my characters from pre-shippuden. It's because I never watched the anime until recently. I have the Naruto Mangas 1-8 (although I've read as far as they've been released online) and my kids enjoy reading them so I thought they'd enjoy sitting down as a family and watching from the beginning. I never realized they'd love it so much! Anyway, I'm drawing what I'm seeing and reliving from reading those early parts of the manga many years ago. Admittedly it was hard getting used to some of the voices. Some are completely different than what I imagined (Jiraiya and Guy!) but I'm getting used to them. We just started watching Shippuden so once I get my fill of drawing them young I'll move on to Shippuden.
I'm finally starting to get a bit more uniform in my shading

I didn't quite capture his expression. It was supposed to be concentration as he uses the byakugan but instead he looks like he's scowling.

Day 6- Sakura Haruna

Sakura is the main female protagonist of Naruto and arguably the one (female) who shows the most growth throughout the series.
This was probably the first one I finished and felt disappointed. I made the scuff marks on her face too dark, dropped sushi juice beside her hair and her shoulders don't look right/are uneven. I wasn't going to post it but I realized this is supposed to show my growth which means the good bad and ugly.

The image itself I love! I had a hard time trying decide how to draw Sakura since her character has a wide variety of expressions/emotions to choose from. This is sakura in rare form after she chops off her hair but before Ino fixes it. Happy Sakura isn't one we see too often.

Jan 5- Rock Lee!

My third drawing is of Rock Lee. It is my probably my favorite thus far. I love Lee's spirit!

This was my first real challenge. Those bandages were surprisingly difficult to get right. Thankfully I'm learning to draw my lines a little lighter so you can't see my mistakes as easily.

Jan 4

My second drawing to attempt was Sasuke Uchiha.

I need to learn to draw my lines lighter! Just like Naruto, Sasuke's hair posed a problem.

I could just scan them in but this way I can combine my photography and drawing.

Jan 3- First Drawing

My First drawing is of Naruto. It took me a full day working on it off and on. I directly copied from an image from the anime. It's rather rough with lots of erase marks but I'm done for now.

Closer

:)

You can see where I erased and drew 100 times hahaha

January first- Happy New Year!

Having 4 kids home for Christmas vacation means not a lot of time for drawing. So here is another picture.
